12:28 PM EST, 11/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- TreeHouse Foods ( THS ) tumbled nearly 17% in midday trading Tuesday after the food and beverage company reported Q3 results trailing Wall Street expectations and lowered its full-year core profitability outlook amid a product recall and sales volume declines.

Trading volume for Treehouse shares reached about 1.5 million shares by midday, well over its daily average volume of around 446,000 shares.

Amedisys ( AMED ) dropped more than 1% amid reports that the US Department of Justice is moving to block a $33 billion proposed acquisition of the company by UnitedHealth Group ( UNH ) .

Trading volume for Amedisys ( AMED ) shares increased to more than 930,000, more than double its daily average of around 390,000 shares per day.

Home Depot ( HD ) shares slumped 0.5% after the retailer said it expects adjusted EPS to be down 1% from a year earlier, compared with previous guidance of a 1% to 3% decline.

More than 2.3 million Home Depot ( HD ) shares traded midway through Tuesday's session. The stock typically trades nearly 3.3 million shares daily.
