Shares rose 8.7% as intraday trading volume climbed to more than 2.82 million from a daily average of about 1.34 million.

Hawaiian Electric Industries ( HE ) shares surged after Bloomberg reported Thursday that the electric services company was among a group of firms that reached a tentative deal to settle lawsuits over last year's wildfires in Maui.

Shares soared 34%, with intraday trading volume at over 16.3 million versus a daily average of roughly 3.31 million.

60 Degrees Pharmaceuticals ( SXTP ) shares jumped 48% after the company said Friday it has signed clinical trial agreements for its study of tafenoquine to treat patients with babesiosis.

More than 205.2 million shares traded intraday compared with a daily average of about 752,000.
