* Nvidia ( NVDA ) is likely to surpass analysts' Q3 expectations, bolstered by strong Asian supply chain data and rising capital spending by major tech firms, Wedbush said in a note. Nvidia ( NVDA ) shares rose 2.9%.
* The Atlanta Federal Reserve's Nowcast growth estimate for gross domestic product increased by 10 basis points to 4.2% for Q3.
* December West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell $1.19 to settle at $59.55 per barrel, while January Brent crude, the global benchmark, was last seen down $1.31 to $63.58.
* GE Vernova ( GEV ) and Siemens Energy are in talks to supply gas turbines for a $7 billion power project in Syria, Reuters reported. GE Vernova ( GEV ) shares were up about 7.3%.
* Eversource Energy ( ES ) shares fell nearly 12% after Wells Fargo downgraded the stock to equal weight from overweight and cut its price target to $63 from $79.
