In the 2016 Assembly elections, Devikulam was won by S Rajendran of INC.

Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by S. Rajendran of CPIM.

In the 2016 assembly polls, S Rajendran garnered 49510 votes, securing over 42.18 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 5782 votes.

In percentage terms, the victory margin was 4.93 percent.

The constituency polled 117390 votes in the 2016 Kerala assembly polls with a voter turnout of 71.23 percent.

The Devikulam constituency has a literacy level of 92.2 percent.

A total of 11 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
