Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election Exit Poll: When and where to watch results
Nov 29, 2023 8:58 AM

The polling for Madhya Pradesh Assembly election 2023 was held on November 17 and all eyes are on the results to be announced by the Election Commission. Ahead of the counting of votes, the exit poll results could give an indication of the outcome of the Assembly election in the state.

The exit poll results can be released after the voting comes to an end on November 30 in Telangana.

The results for all five states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram will be announced on December 3.

Voting in Rajasthan was held on November 23, and in Mizoram on November 7. Polling in Chhattisgarh was held in two phases on November 7 and November 17.

In Madhya Pradesh, the polling for all 230 seats was held in a single phase on November 17. Now, the exit poll results may give an indication to gauge the mood of the voters, who will decide the fate of 2,533 candidates.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) had previously issued a guideline in October, prohibiting the conduct, publication and publicity of the exit polls between 7 am on November 7 and 6:30 pm on November 30. In view of the same, the exit poll results can be expected after 6:30 pm on Thursday.

For the unversed, an exit poll is a survey that is held immediately after voters have voted for respective candidates. This survey primarily aims to assess the support for political parties and their candidates.

Madhya Pradesh witnessed a direct face-off between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. While Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan led the campaign for BJP, the opposition Congress relied on former CM Kamal Nath’s leadership to return to power.

Among big leaders from BJP, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan is contesting from Budhni, former Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar is in the fray from Dimni, and Prahlad Singh Patel from Narsinghpur. On the other hand, former CM Kamal Nath is contesting from Chhindwara.
