Since Apple released the iPhone 15 Pro models last month, users have encountered various issues, the most recent being severe screen burn-in problems.
Screen burn-in occurs when static images or elements, such as app icons or on-screen buttons, are consistently displayed for extended periods, causing certain pixels to degrade faster than others. As a result, ghostly remnants of these static elements can become permanently etched into the screen, even when the content changes.

While users believe it to be a hardware issue, related to the OLED display, Apple has addressed the problem, saying that it’s a software bug mimicking a screen burn-in. The issue is expected to be resolved by the iOS 17.1 update that Apple released as a response.
“The iOS 17.1 update also addresses several other bugs. It fixes an issue that could cause the Significant Location privacy setting to reset when transferring or pairing an Apple Watch for the first time, plus it addresses a bug that could cause custom and purchased ringtones not to appear as options for a text tone,” MacRumors said in its report.
The report also said that users of the older iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro models have also been facing this issue and hence, Apple did not specifically mention the iPhone 15 Pro in its release notes.
The update is also expected to fix a problem that might cause the keyboard to be less responsive. Apple also reportedly optimised the crash detection feature on the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 15 models, which would further refine how the devices respond when a crash is detected.
Apple also released the iOS 17.0.3 update two weeks ago to fix the reported heating issues with the iPhone 15 Pro models.
