Sept 8 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened

higher on Monday after a surprise job loss in August boosted

expectations for a Bank of Canada rate cut later this month.

At 9:30 a.m. ET (1330 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's

S&P/TSX composite index was up 0.18% at 29,102.14

points.
