Earnings Season, Persian Gulf Lull, Lift Wall Street Pre-Bell; Asia, Europe Up
Aug 10, 2026 4:33 AM

07:15 AM EDT, 08/10/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Wall Street futures pointed moderately higher pre-bell Monday as traders awaited developments in the Persian Gulf and weighed the unfolding earnings season.

In the futures, the S&P 500 rose 0.1%, after striking a fresh all-time zenith close on Friday. The Nasdaq inclined 0.3%, while the Dow Jones was off 0.1%.

The VanEck Semiconductor fund traded up 1% pre-bell.

Traders this week also await the July consumer price index bulletin from Washingtonon on Wednesday morning, and the July national retail sales report on Friday, for clues to how inflation and the national economy are faring given oil prices and Persian Gulf hostilities.

On the earnings scene, blue-chips reporting this week include Applied Materials (AMAT), Brookfield (BN), Cisco Systems (CSCO), Super Micro Computer (SMCI), CoreWeave (CRWV), Nebius (NBIS), and Coherent (COHR).

Barrick Mining (B) traded down 5.5% pre-bell after the gold-and-copper miner reported Q2 earnings just below outlooks, but beat on revenue expectations, in morning hours.

Simon Property (SPG) reports quarterly results after-bell.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil traded up 1.6%, at $79.40 a barrel, in pre-market action.

Asian exchanges traded solidly higher overnight on lowered expectations for a US rate boost at the Federal Reserve's next policy meeting, given Friday's soft US jobs report.

European bourses edged north midday on the continent.

The economic calendar is vacant.

In pre-market action, bitcoin traded at $64,999, and 10-year US Treasuries offered 4.66%. Spot gold commanded $4,339 an ounce.
