European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Edge Higher in Wednesday Trading

11:33 AM EST, 12/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were slightly higher late Wednesday morning, rising 0.3% to 1,347.42 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Cellectis ( CLLS ) and telecommunications company VEON (VEON), which rose 0.5% and 1.3% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm BioNTech (BNTX) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which increased 1.6% and 1.7% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company Genfit ( GNFT ) and oil and gas company TotalEnergies (TTE), which lost 3.3% and 3.8% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ) and electronics conglomerate Philips (PHG), which were down 0.6% and 1.1%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by software firm Endava ( DAVA ) and financial services company Lloyds Banking Group ( LYG ) , which advanced 2.4% and 3.2% respectively. They were followed by education company Pearson (PSO) and cruise line operator Carnival (CUK), which were up 3.3% and 1.9% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ) , which fell 8%. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and Akari Therapeutics ( AKTX ) , which dropped 0.5% and 1.5% respectively.
