European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Climb Higher in Thursday Trading

11:09 AM EDT, 08/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were climbing higher late Thursday morning, rising 1.58% to 1,388.28 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biotech firm Evaxion Biotech ( EVAX ) and pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) , which rose 6.4% and 5.2% respectively. They were followed by internet browser company Opera (OPRA) and internet ad agency Criteo ( CRTO ) , which increased 3.9% and 2.4% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) and accommodation booking company trivago (TRVG), which lost 1.4% and 1% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Genfit ( GNFT ) and 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS), which were off 0.8% and 0.2% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by construction materials supplier CRH (CRH) and biopharmaceutical company Verona Pharma ( VRNA ) , which were up 6.7% and 4.8% respectively. They were followed by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and biopharmaceutical company NuCana ( NCNA ) , which increased 2.8% and 2.7% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics ( AUTL ) and biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) , which dropped 5% and 4.3% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) and biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) , which were down 4.2% and 2.9% respectively.
