European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Edge Lower in Tuesday Trading

10:59 AM EDT, 09/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were slightly lower Tuesday morning, declining 0.16% to 1,539.25 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Grifols ( GRFS ) and biotech firm BioNTech (BNTX), which rose 4.1% and 2.6% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Cellectis ( CLLS ) and pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) , which were up 2.3% and 2.2% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by internet browser company Opera (OPRA) and software firm SAP (SAP), which fell 2.1% and 1% respectively. They were followed by brewing company Anheuser-Busch InBev ( BUD ) and biopharmaceutical company Argenx (ARGX), which were down 0.8% each.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and NuCana ( NCNA ) , which shed 36% and 5.8% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Bicycle Therapeutics ( BCYC ) and oil and gas company Shell (SHEL), which lost 2.1% and 0.9% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) and insurance provider Prudential (PUK), which lost 2.5% and 2.1% respectively. They were followed by lender Barclays ( BCS ) and biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics ( AUTL ) , which dropped 1.8% and 1.1% respectively.
