11:09 AM EDT, 10/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were lower late Thursday morning, declining 0.44% to 1,414.71 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) and petroleum refiner Equinor ( EQNR ) , which rose 4.6% and 2.1% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which were up 1.2% and 1.1% respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by biotech firm Evaxion Biotech ( EVAX ) and software company SAP (SAP), which dropped 3.3% and 1.9% respectively. They were followed by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) and health technology firm Philips (PHG), which lost 1.7% and 1.5% respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) and TC Biopharm ( TCBP ) , which rose 3.1% and 2.2% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies NuCana ( NCNA )
and Amarin ( AMRN ) , which were up 1.8% and 1.7% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by pharmaceutical companies Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ) and GSK (GSK), which lost 2.8% and 2.3% respectively. They were followed by medical device maker Smith & Nephew ( SNN ) and biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics ( AKTX ) , which were down 1.4% each.
