European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Open Week Slightly Higher

11:18 AM EDT, 10/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were slightly higher late Monday morning, edging 0.1% up to 1,421.6 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Cellectis ( CLLS ) and Genfit ( GNFT ) , which rose 5.5% and 4.1% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) and oil and gas company Eni (E), which were up 2.5% and 1.3% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) and petroleum refiner Equinor ( EQNR ) , which fell 3.7% and 3.5% respectively. They were followed by furniture maker Natuzzi NTZ) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ) , which dropped 2.2% each.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) and biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics ( AKTX ) , which advanced 9.2% and 3.8% respectively. They were followed by oil and gas company Shell (SHEL) and cruise line operator Carnival (CUK), which increased 1.6% and 1.4% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies TC Biopharm ( TCBP ) , which lost 21%, followed by biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and medical device maker Smith & Nephew ( SNN ) , which were down 3.1% and 3% respectively.
