European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Plunge in Friday Trading

11:02 AM EDT, 04/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were plunging late Friday morning, down 5.08% to 1,297.45 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index, which has lost more than 6% for the week so far.

There were no gainers from continental Europe.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by financial services companies Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria ( BBVA ) and Banco Santander (SAN), which fell 9.4% and 9.2%, respectively. They were followed by accommodations booking company trivago (TRVG) and financial services company ING Groep ( ING ) , which dropped 8.9% and 7.7%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the lone gainer was biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) , which surged 14%.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ) and financial services company Barclays ( JJCTF ) , which shed 11% and 10%, respectively. They were followed by mining company BHP Group ( BHP ) and oil and gas company BP (BP), which lost 8.3% and 8%, respectively.
