Stock Futures Mixed Pre-Bell as Traders Wait for Market Direction Cues; Asia, Europe Rise

06:58 AM EDT, 06/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The benchmark US stock measures were uneven before Thursday's opening bell as traders wait for fresh catalysts to trigger market direction.

Standard & Poor's 500 futures held steady, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged down 0.1% and the Nasdaq rose 0.1% in premarket activity. The majority of Asian exchanges were trending higher while European bourses were tracking in the green.

Lululemon Athletica's ( LULU ) shares gained 7.6% pre-bell as the athletic apparel and footwear company lifted its full-year earnings outlook. Five Below ( FIVE ) dropped 17% after the discount retailer slashed its fiscal 2024 guidance amid weakening discretionary spending from low-income consumers. Nvidia ( NVDA ) increased 1.2% after closing Wednesday's trading session with a 5.2% jump.

J.M. Smucker (SJM), Nio (NIO), Toro (TTC), Ciena (CIEN) and ABM Industries ( ABM ) report their latest financial results before the bell, among others. Samsara (IOT), DocuSign ( DOCU ) and Vail Resorts ( MTN ) post earnings in the afterhours.

The economic calendar has the Challenger Job Cut Report for May at 7:30 am ET. The weekly jobless claims bulletin, the international trade in goods and services report for April and the revised first-quarter productivity and costs report all post at 8:30 am. The weekly EIA domestic natural-gas supplies report is scheduled for a 10:30 am release.

Before the open, bitcoin decreased 0.4% to $70,910, West Texas Intermediate crude inclined 0.5% to $74.41 a barrel, yields on 10-year Treasuries nudged 0.8 basis points higher to nearly 4.3% and gold ticked up 0.2% to $2,380 an ounce.
