Jun 12, 2025 9:07 AM

11:58 AM EDT, 06/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Wall Street's major market averages were mixed around midday Thursday after President Donald Trump's latest pronouncements on trade policy and a cooler-than-expected producer price index for May.

Trump said late Wednesday that he intended to send letters to trading partners setting "take-it-or-leave-it" unilateral tariffs within the next one or two weeks.

The US Producer Price Index rose by 0.1% in May following a 0.2% decrease in April, lower than the 0.2% gain expected in a survey compiled by Bloomberg.

US initial jobless claims were flat at a level of 248,000 in the week ended June 7 after an upward revision to the previous week's level, above expectations for a level of 242,000 in survey of analysts compiled by Bloomberg.

A Boeing (BA) 787-8 aircraft operated by Air India crashed Thursday shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, India, en route to London's Gatwick airport, Air India said on social media platform X. A Boeing spokesperson said the company was in contact with Air India regarding Flight 171 and stands ready to support the airline.

The incident will be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board with a team of US investigators, the agency said in a post on X.

Boeing shares were down 5% around midday.

Oracle (ORCL) reported higher fiscal Q4 non-GAAP net income and revenue, which also exceeded market expectations. For fiscal 2026, Oracle now expects revenue of at least $67 billion, Chief Executive Safra Catz said on a post-earnings call, according to a FactSet transcript. In March, the company projected revenue at $66 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expect $66.36 billion.

Oracle (ORCL) shares advanced 14%.

BioNTech (BNTX) has agreed to acquire clinical-stage biotech company CureVac ( CVAC ) in an all-stock deal, under which each CureVac ( CVAC ) share will be exchanged for roughly $5.46 in BioNTech American depositary shares, resulting in a total implied equity value of about $1.25 billion for CureVac ( CVAC ).

CureVac ( CVAC ) shares climbed 38%, while BioNTech was marginally down.

GameStop ( GME ) shares slid 20% after it said late Wednesday it plans to offer $1.75 billion of convertible senior notes due 2032 to institutional buyers.

Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) Amazon Web Services is set to update its AI cloud service Bedrock to facilitate the development of AI apps, including agents, in a bid to keep up with rivals, The Information reported, citing a source involved in the project. AWS didn't immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
