In the 2016 Assembly elections, Budge Budge was won by Ashok Kumar Deb of CPIM.

Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Ashok Kumar Deb of TMC.

In the 2016 assembly polls, Ashok Kumar Deb garnered 84058 votes, securing over 44.13 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 7159 votes.

In percentage terms, the victory margin was 3.76 percent.

The constituency polled 191249 votes in the 2016 West Bengal assembly polls with a voter turnout of 83.56 percent.

The Budge Budge constituency has a literacy level of 78.57 percent.
