Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Nabin Chandra Bag of CPIM.
In the 2016 assembly polls, Nabin Chandra Bag garnered 90151 votes, securing over 45.88 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 3202 votes.
In percentage terms, the victory margin was 1.63 percent.
The constituency polled 196625 votes in the 2016 West Bengal assembly polls with a voter turnout of 89.18 percent.
The Khandaghosh constituency has a literacy level of 77.15 percent.
