Sonamukhi is an Assembly constituency in the Bankura district, in the South West Bengal region of West Bengal.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Sonamukhi was won by Ajit Ray of CPIM.
Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Dipali Saha of TMC.
In the 2016 assembly polls, Ajit Ray garnered 86125 votes, securing over 46.05 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 8719 votes.
In percentage terms, the victory margin was 4.66 percent.
The constituency polled 187153 votes in the 2016 West Bengal assembly polls with a voter turnout of 89.05 percent.
The Sonamukhi constituency has a literacy level of 70.95 percent.
A total of 5 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
