Alphabet's Waymo Cleared to Test Autonomous Vehicles From San Francisco Airport

01:50 PM EDT, 09/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) subsidiary Waymo was awarded a pilot permit for autonomous vehicles operating from San Francisco International Airport, said Daniel Lurie, the city's mayor.

The rollout will begin with supervised testing, progress to employee-only driverless rides and eventually start paid passenger service between the airport and the city, the mayor's office said Tuesday in a statement.
