Apple Shipments Fail to Match Global Smartphone Sales Growth
Nov 27, 2024 4:05 AM

06:55 AM EST, 11/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) failed to benefit from a forecast 6.2% global rise in smartphone shipments in 2024, an International Data Corporation quarterly report said Tuesday.

Apple's ( AAPL ) iOS is expected to grow a modest 0.4% in 2024, stymied by challenges in China, the US, and Europe, the report said.

Meanwhile, devices using Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Android are projected to grow 7.6%, with sales focused in Asia Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, the report said.

The independent research firm projects smartphone growth to slow overall to the low single digits from 2025 onward because of increased penetration, lengthening replacement cycles, and a rapidly growing market in used smartphones.
