Backlash against WhatsApp's new policy: What experts say
Jan 12, 2021 11:33 AM

It is just week-two of 2021 and the world continues to turn topsy-turvy from rioting in the US Capitol, a new strain of coronavirus, an outbreak of Bird Flu to Twitter banning President Trump's account.

On the personal front, something unthinkable has happened. Those pesky good morning messages on the family WhatsApp group have vanished. The folks are now talking about WhatsApp's new privacy policy and whether it's time to move to a new app. People who stuck to forwarding jokes are now throwing around phrases like end-to-end encryption and data protection and privacy settings. And suddenly, that family group is sounding like an office group.

More and more people are asking what's the big deal about WhatsApp's new policy? And, is this backlash to WhatsApp's new policy deserved? To answer this Startup Street spoke to Kazim Rizvi, founder of The Dialogue and Apar Gupta of Internet Freedom Foundation.

Also watch Startup Street in conversation with Siddharth Shah, founder & director of Airowater - a Mumbai based company, which claims to solve problems of water scarcity, bad quality water & sustainability, through its patented technology that converts air into drinkable water and also stores them.

Watch video for more.
