COVID-19 claims rising, but within estimates, says HDFC Life's Padalkar
Nov 20, 2020 2:18 AM

HDFC Life has clocked a 50 percent plus growth in new business premium in October. Has the festive month of November been as good and is there is any more promoter stake sale likely ahead, after a sale of Rs 160 crore worth of shares a week ago? Vibha Padalkar, MD and CEO at HDFC Life shared her views and outlook.

“We are beginning to see a little bit of uptick on COVID-19 claims,” she said in an interview with CNBC-TV18. “It is still within our assumptions,” she added.

Growth in the business is not at all linked to the festive season, she said. “Insurance is a long-term protection, savings and retirement solutions kind of an outlay that one would have,” she added.

October has been one of the best months for the company, she said.

HDFC’s protection business has grown 38 percent, she said.
