El Al to Reportedly Start Talks on 30 Boeing 737 Max Aircraft

02:55 PM EDT, 06/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- El Al Israel Airlines is planning to start negotiations with Boeing ( BA ) and other aircraft leasing companies to purchase or lease of about 30 Boeing 737 Max airplanes, multiple media outlets reported Monday, citing the airline's board.

The estimated cost is expected to range between $2.0 billion and $2.50 billion, Bloomberg News reported.

The aircraft will replace El Al's fleet of Boeing 737-800 and 737-900, according to the report., adding that an offer from Airbus was also considered by the company.

The carrier expects deliveries to begin in 2027 and be spread out over several years, Reuters reported.

Boeing ( BA ), El Al and Airbus didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
