July 15 (Reuters) - Former Amazon executive Tom
Taylor will now lead the $10 billion Bezos Earth Fund, taking
over from Andrew Steer, who stepped down as the CEO in February.
Taylor, who was the senior vice president for Alexa, will be
the chief executive and president of the Earth Fund, which was
set up with the personal fortune of Amazon ( AMZN ) founder Jeff Bezos to
invest in tackling climate change this decade.
"I am excited to work with Jeff and Lauren to implement
their vision and grateful to inherit an incredibly capable and
mission driven team," Taylor said in a post on LinkedIn on
Tuesday.
Bezos married journalist Lauren Sanchez in late June during
a star-studded wedding extravaganza in Venice.
Taylor announced his retirement from Amazon ( AMZN ) in 2022.
The fund, created in 2020, has so far distributed $2.3
billion in grants, according to its website.
