08:22 AM EDT, 10/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Interfor ( IFSPF ) said Friday it is revising its operating plans for the fourth quarter due to "persistently weak" market conditions. The company will further temporarily cut lumber production across its operations in British Columbia, Ontario, the US Pacific Northwest and the US South.
The curtailments are expected to reduce lumber production by 250 million board feet, or 26% year-over-year, the company said. Curtailment volumes are about evenly split between Interfor's ( IFSPF ) Canadian and the U.S. operations.
Interfor ( IFSPF ) produced 936 million board feet of lumber in the second quarter and 910 million board feet of lumber in the third quarter of this year.
"Lumber prices in all regions of North America have continued to weaken, from already unsustainably low levels," said Ian Fillinger, chief executive officer. "Our revised operating plans for the fourth quarter reflect our disciplined approach to match production levels with reduced market demand."
