TOKYO, Oct 23 (Reuters) - Japan's top power generator

JERA will acquire natural gas production assets in the U.S. from

GEP Haynesville II for $1.5 billion, it said on Thursday.

GEP Haynesville II is a joint venture between GeoSouthern

Energy, backed by Blackstone, and pipeline operator

Williams Companies ( WMB ).
