Lucid Group Recalls Over 12,000 Air Models Due to Software, Coolant Heater Issues
Jul 9, 2024 8:18 AM

11:08 AM EDT, 07/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Lucid Group's ( LCID ) will recall 5,251 Lucid Air 2022-2023 model cars because of a software issue that results in a loss of drive power and increases the risk of a crash, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a letter dated Monday.

A hardware fault detection in the high voltage interlock software can disconnect high voltage contactors while driving, causing a loss of drive power, the regulator added.

Lucid is also recalling 7,506 2022-2024 Air vehicles because the high-voltage coolant heater may fail to defrost the windshield, the NHTSA said in another letter dated Monday.

Lucid did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of the company were down 3.2% in recent trading.
