09:34 AM EST, 11/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alibaba Group ( BABA ) is planning to overhaul its main mobile artificial intelligence app in the coming months, Bloomberg said Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Alibaba ( BABA ) plans to upgrade its "Tongyi" apps on iOS and Android and rename them as "Qwen," after its AI model, the report said. The Chinese tech company will then add agentic-AI features to support shopping on platforms like the Taobao marketplace in coming months, the report added.

The company has dedicated over 100 developers over the past months towards the revamp, as Alibaba ( BABA ) aims to make Qwen a fully functioning AI agent and eventually expand globally with an overseas version of its app, the report said.

Alibaba ( BABA ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of the company were up more than 3% in recent Thursday trading.
