04:18 PM EDT, 08/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Comcast ( CMCSA ) -owned NBCUniversal is in advanced discussions with Major League Baseball, or MLB, to close a three-year contract valued at around $600 million, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter on Thursday.
NBCUniversal is chasing a deal with MLB to air Sunday night games on its broadcast network during the football and basketball seasons, with additional game streaming on its digital platform, Peacock. The deal would be around $200 million annually, it said.
According to the report, Netflix ( NFLX ) is also close to finalizing a deal with MLB to stream Home Run Derby for a price of over $35 million a year, as per other people familiar with the matter. The agreement would go through to 2028.
Disney's ( DIS ) ESPN ( DIS ) is also in advanced talks with MLB to claim a deal focused on regional games and to be able to integrate MLB.TV, the league's out of market streaming service, in its upcoming direct-to-consumer platform, it added.
Both NBC and Netflix ( NFLX ) could not be reached. ESPN ( DIS ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment
