Market Chatter: Microsoft's Russian Unit Planning Bankruptcy Filing
May 30, 2025 9:35 AM

12:16 PM EDT, 05/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft's ( MSFT ) Russian unit is planning to file for bankruptcy in the Moscow Arbitration Court, Interfax reported Friday.

The report said Microsoft Rus has published a notice on the official Fedresurs registry for the planned filing, with Gazprombank named as the company's creditor.

According to Interfax, Gazprombank filed a 90.9 million Russian ruble- ($1.2 million) lawsuit against Microsoft Rus in January for unjust enrichment. The case relates to a support agreement between the companies, where the Microsoft ( MSFT ) unit had ceased providing services in April 2022 even after it received payments for the services through September the same year.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
