02:03 PM EDT, 03/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Miller Industries' ( MLR ) lead independent director Ted Ashford said Thursday that the board believes "the current plan and growth strategy is the best way to maximize shareholder value and drive positive change."

The statement was issued after shareholder Advisory Research earlier in the day called for an independent committee and a strategic review.

"Advisory Research's interactions with the company have been consistently focused on near-term issues and share price performance," Ashford said.

The director said the investment firm "is operating based on faulty assumptions about the company's fundamentals."

Advisory Research didn't immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
