08:48 AM EDT, 06/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Newmont ( NEM ) said Friday that Harry Conger joined the company's board of directors.

According to the miner, Conger has 46 years of extensive mining and leadership experience, recently retiring as president and COO of Teck Resources (TECK-B.TO).

Conger will also serve on Newmont's ( NEM ) safety and sustainability committee.

"Throughout his distinguished career, he has gained a wealth of unparalleled experience in the mining sector and strategic insights," said Tom Palmer, Newmont's ( NEM ) president and CEO.

Newmont's ( NEM ) share price rose 1.1% at last look to US$42 in NYSE pre-market trading after closing at $57 yesterday in TSX.
