PG&E Gets $34.5 Million Energy Department Grant for Improvements of Hydro Projects

02:30 PM EDT, 09/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- PG&E ( PCG ) said Tuesday it has been awarded $34.5 million in grants from the US Department of Energy to support 19 hydroelectric projects in its system.

The funding, part of the DOE's Maintaining and Enhancing Hydroelectricity Incentive program, will focus on improving grid resilience, dam safety, and reducing environmental impacts.

The Pacific Gas and Electric hydro projects to benefit from the grant are primarily located in Mendocino, Nevada, Plumas, Fresno, Tuolumne, Butte, Amador, Calaveras, and Shasta counties in California, PG&E ( PCG ) said.

PG&E ( PCG ) shares were down almost 1% in recent trading.
