Yes Bank is looking to double the size of its retail loan book by 2023. It is also planning to increase its share of loans to micro, small and mid-sized businesses, as it shrinks its corporate book. Prashant Kumar, MD and CEO, Yes Bank spoke about the bank’s strategy in an interview with CNBC-TV18.
“We are seeing good traction both on the deposit side and on the loan side in the retail and MSME space,” Kumar said.
On retail growth, he said, “This quarter we are targeting a disbursement of more than Rs 10,000 crore from retail and MSME. This traction would continue. We are also seeing some small growth on the corporate side.”
“Overall if we talk about the loan book growth, year-end we would be expecting something between 5 percent and 10 percent,” Kumar mentioned.
The bank made a recovery of Rs 900 crore in Q2. “In Q3 and Q4 we are targeting a recovery of Rs 4,000 crore and we are right on track,” he said.
On restructuring, Kumar said, “For the retail and MSME, it is 0.5 percent of our loan book. It is almost Rs 300 crore which would go for the restructuring out of the portfolio of Rs 60,000 crore. On the corporate side, the number would be little higher.”
