Uniphore's Umesh Sachdev expects 300% growth in 2019
Aug 13, 2019 1:38 PM

Uniphore, the conversational artificial intelligence technology company, on Tuesday, said it expects to grow 300 percent in 2019 after the company raised $51 million (about Rs 364.5 crore) in funding led by March Capital Partners.

In an interview to CNBC-TV18's Mugdha Variyar, Umesh Sachdev, chief executive officer, said, "This funding allows us to continue and expand our investments in R&D in artificial intelligence and also allows us to continue investing in new markets such as North America and Europe."

He said, "Contact centres and call centres particularly is an industry that India and Asia had pioneered many years ago. It is a $350 billion industry and it is a massive industry. If there is one industry in the top 3 which will get impacted by artificial intelligence, it is going to be this one."

Further, he said, "We had started expanding into the Asia Pacific in 2016 and we came to North America in 2017, so it is the geographic expansion combined with the fact that the industry is rapidly adopting AI in a very big way, which caused 300 percent growth rate last year and this was against our own target of 100 percent."
