Epic Games is planning to introduce 19 third-party games to its mobile marketplace on Alphabet's (GOOGL, GOOG) Google Android operating system and 16 games on Apple's ( AAPL ) iOS in the European Union, multiple media outlets reported Thursday, citing the company.
Epic will reportedly also offer free games through its mobile store, starting with "Bloons TD 6" and "Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee."
In Europe, Epic will temporarily pay Apple's ( AAPL ) per-app fee of 0.50 euros ($0.52) after an app exceeds 1 million downloads, aiming to support developers who join its free-games program, media outlets reported.
The company's CEO Tim Sweeney reportedly said the company wants to grow beyond multiple separate stores and instead create a unified, cross-platform marketplace for games.
Epic launched its own app store in 2024, which amassed 29 million users by the end of 2024, falling short of its initial target of 100 million users, according to the reports.
Epic said in a statement on X that it is offering games on its Epic Games Store for mobile, but due to some technical issues the launch has been delayed.
"On Android, developers have always been free to offer their apps on multiple app stores, directly from the web, or even through their own store," a Google ( GOOG ) spokesperson told MT Newswires.
Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
