03:52 AM EDT, 05/31/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Vistra ( VST ) said late Thursday it plans to add up to 2,000 megawatts of natural gas-fueled power capacity in West, Central and North Texas.
As part of the plan, the company aims to build up to 860 MW of new gas facilities in West Texas. It intends to repower its coal-fueled plant, which is set to retire in 2027, as a gas-fueled plant to enable up to 600 MW of additional capacity.
Additionally, Vistra ( VST ) is looking to complete several projects at its current gas plants, which are expected to add more than 500 MW and 100 MW of summer and winter capacity, respectively.
