11:10 AM EDT, 08/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Xiao-I ( AIXI ) said Tuesday it is now awaiting the verdict in the patent infringement dispute between its variable interest entity Shanghai Xiao-i Robot Technology and Apple ( AAPL ) after the Shanghai High People's Court ended the trial on July 31.

Shanghai Xiao-i ( AIXI ) filed a lawsuit in August 2020 alleging that Apple's ( AAPL ) Siri infringed its Chinese patent for an intelligent assistant, Xiao-I ( AIXI ) said. Apple ( AAPL ) filed a countersuit in February 2023 seeking compensation for its expenses. The two cases were merged in January 2024 by the Shanghai High Court for trial, the company added.

Apple ( AAPL ) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
