Competition in commodity derivatives will help investors and exchanges, says NCDEX
Jan 15, 2019 9:09 AM

In an interview to CNBC-TV18's Yash Jain, Vijay Kumar V, MD and CEO of NCDEX shared his views on equity exchanges being allowed to start commodity trading.

Vijay Kumar said, "NCDEX has been in the commodities business for over 14 years, so that is a long track record."

"Our experience goes deep, we understand commodities, we have handled deliveries across agricultural commodities which are perishable products," Kumar said.

It is not just about trading and trading systems, it is about creating the ecosystem of warehousing and the trust in how the product is handled, he added.

It is good that other exchanges are coming in because at a generic level the commodity markets have space for other players as well to come in with new products and build it and that is always a welcome thing, Kumar said, adding that competitions help the company to become sharper, stronger, helps the customer service go to a more higher level.
