09:00 AM EST, 11/14/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were advancing premarket Thursday as the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) rose by 0.6% recently.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 1.5% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 1.6% lower.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was 0.6% higher at $68.88 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil gained 0.6% to $72.74 per barrel, and natural gas futures were down 0.8% at $2.96 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
Ovintiv ( OVV ) shares were over 1% higher after the company said it has agreed to acquire certain assets in Alberta Montney from Paramount Resources in an all-cash transaction of $2.38 billion.
