01:47 PM EDT, 07/02/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were advancing in Tuesday afternoon trading, with both the NYSE Financial Index and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) adding 0.5%.
The Philadelphia Housing Index was falling 0.9%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) was fractionally lower.
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was declining 2% to $61,927, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries was dropping 2.7 basis points to 4.45%.
In economic news, US job openings rose to 8.140 million in May from a revised 7.919 million in April and above the 7.946 million expected in a survey compiled by Bloomberg.
In corporate news, Robinhood (HOOD) said Tuesday it has no "imminent plans" to launch cryptocurrency futures offerings. Bloomberg reported earlier in the day that the company was exploring launching crypto futures in the US and Europe in the coming months. Robinhood shares were retreating 1.4%.
R1 RCM ( RCM ) shares tumbled past 14% after New Mountain Capital said it's no longer interested in pursuing a joint acquisition of R1 with TCP-ASC and lowered its proposed takeover offer.
Douglas Elliman ( DOUG ) shares sank 12% as the company said Tuesday it obtained a $50 million growth investment from Kennedy Lewis Investment Management.
