In corporate news, Humana (HUM) filed a notice Tuesday to appeal an October court ruling that upheld its reduced Medicare quality bonus payments. Its shares rose 3.1%.
Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) said Tuesday a phase 2 trial of its experimental drug amycretin in people with type 2 diabetes showed reductions in weight and HbA1c or average blood sugar. Novo shares jumped 4.7%.
Select Medical ( SEM ) shares jumped past 13% following a take-private proposal from its executive chairman.
Premier (PINC) said Tuesday that healthcare investment firm Patient Square Capital has completed its acquisition of the company for $2.6 billion. Premier common stock ceased trading on Tuesday and will be delisted from Nasdaq, the company said.
