U.S. stocks open higher as investors await Fed rate cut decision

Dec 8 (Reuters) - Wall Street's main indexes opened modestly higher on Monday as investors priced in expectations that the Federal Reserve will deliver a long-awaited rate cut later this week in a meeting that is shaping up to be one of the most divisive in years.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 16.5 points, or 0.03%, at the open to 47,971.51. The S&P 500 rose 4.8 points, or 0.07%, at the open to 6,875.2​, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 60.1 points, or 0.25%, to 23,638.217 at the opening bell.
