A survey conducted by social media platform LocalCircles revealed that 75 percent of Indians felt that the Narendra Modi government has either met or exceeded their expectations in the last five years. Nearly 30 percent said that the government exceeded their expectations.
The poll has received over 1.8 lakh responses from over 60,000 participants across the country.
In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Sachin Taparia, chairman and CEO of LocalCircles discussed the findings of the survey.
“Last year this number was at about 54 percent and it had been regularly declining over the last three years. It was 68 percent in 2016, it went to 57 percent or so and then it came down to 54 percent in 2018” Taparia said.
“This year we are seeing a switch from a lot of people who had rated the government below expectations to meeting expectations and I think it is largely because of two or three reasons. One is the government has announced a lot of programmes over the past one year, especially the tax cuts for the middle class, the general reservation and the Ayushman Bharat scheme," he said.
