Assembly Elections 2023: BJP, Congress workers create ruckus over ticker distribution in Rajasthan and MP
Oct 22, 2023 7:15 AM

Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan will go to polls next month and the crucial process of releasing the list of candidates for the assembly seats is still going on. The ticket distribution process has left many party leaders and workers disappointed in both parties, resulting in open revolt and subsequent demonstrations in Hindi belt states.

For Madhya Pradesh (MP), BJP has released the names of candidates for 228 out of 230 seats. On Saturday, supporters of BJP aspirants Sharad Jain and Dheeraj Pateriya, created ruckus outside the party office in Jabalpur. This happened in the presence of Union Cabinet Minister Bhupendra Yadav. The senior BJP leader, in fact, was also mobbed by the party workers. The party workers also fought with Yadav's security team. Workers of the saffron party were also seen protesting outside Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia's palace in Gwalior.

Despite these incidents, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar told the media that the situation in the state is under control.

The grand old party of Indian politics is also faced with similar anger.

Congress workers expressed their anger over ticket distribution in Madhya Pradesh (MP) by burning Digvijay Singh's effigy. Damodar Singh Yadav, Vice-President, Madhya Pradesh Congress, resigned for being unable to secure the required tickets for OBC candidates. Angry Congress party workers also protested outside former CM Kamalnath's bungalow in Shujalpur. They blocked Deepak Joshi's car, showed him black flags and broke the windows of his car.

The western Indian state is witnessing political turmoil as well.

Last week, BJP workers protested against Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in Ajmer. Angry BJP workers also staged a protest outside the party office in Jaipur this week.

Rajasthan is going to polls on November 25 and Madhya Pradesh will go to polls on November 17, 2023. The counting will happen on December 3.
