Baikunthpur election 2018 results: Ambica Singh Deo of Congress leads Bhaiyalal Rajwade of BJP
Dec 11, 2018 10:47 AM

Ambica Singh Deo of the Congress is leading Bhaiyalal Rajwade of the BJP in the Baikunthpur seat in Chhattisgarh by 4,794 votes.

Ambica Singh Deo received 44,215 votes, while Bhaiyalal Rajwade secured 39,421 votes, according to Election Commission data. Sanjay Singh Kamrao of Bahujan Samaj Party was trailing at the third spot with 17,164 votes.

Baikunthpur seat has been held by the BJP for the last 10 years. In the 2013 Assembly elections, Bhaiyalal Rawade of BJP defeated Congress’ Bedanti Tiwari by 1,069 votes.

The Election Commission held voting in two phases in the naxal-affected state on November 12 and November 20.

The first phase of voting covered mostly assembly seats in the Bastar division and parts of Rajnandgaon.

Chhattisgarh is one of the five states where elections were held between November 12 and December 7.

These polls are seen as a bellwether of the 2019 general elections.
