Gajwel election 2018 results: Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of TRS defeats Vanteru Pratap Reddy of Congress

Telangana caretaker chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) triumphed over Vanteru Pratap Reddy of Congress in the Gajwel constituency in Telangana by 51,514 votes.

Telangana, the youngest state of India, went to polls on December 7 to elect its second assembly. The state recorder a voter turnout of 73.20 percent. The previous polls were held in the united Andhra Pradesh. Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.

Telangana was supposed to have its second election in May, 2019. However, the chief minister of the state, K Chandrasekhar Rao, dissolved the assembly in September 2018 and announced for early election.
