Karnataka Election Live | Vote to Congress and JD(S) is for corruption, says Nadda

BJP chief JP Nadda on Friday addressed public meetings at multiple districts ahead of the assembly elections. Addressing a public meeting in Saroba, Karnataka, Nadda said, "A vote to BJP is for the development and peace of Karnataka, while a vote to Congress and JDS is for corruption. The Congress has a poisonous mindset and its leaders are either on bail or in jail."

In another public meeting in Shiralakoppa, Shivamogga, he said, "Karnataka: "...see the difference between the old govt and the present govt, from 1947 to 2014, only 74 airports were built in India and from 2014-2022, within 9 years itself, 74 airports were built under PM's leadership.."

"Under the guidance of PM Modi Ji and the leadership of CM Basavaraj Bommai Ji, the BJP has worked for social welfare, whereas the Congress did everything in its might to obstruct the schemes meant for the benefit of poor." Nadda said in his address at a public meeting in Shikaripura, Karnataka.

Kannada film star Shivarajkumar's wife Geetha Shivarajkumar joined the Congress, quitting the JD(S). A delegation of Congress leaders, including Abhishek Singhvi, Pawan Kumar Bansal and Mukul Wasnik met the chief election commissioner and the election commissioners on Friday, and requested the poll body to bar Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from campaigning for the May 10 assembly polls in Karnataka for their alleged statements against the minority community. The delegation alleged that Shah and Adityanath made "false", "partisan" and "communal" statements during the poll campaign in Karnataka with a view to seek electoral gains, and demanded that they be not allowed to campaign in the state.

According to News 18, Karnataka BJP MLA Basanagouda Yatnal called former Congress president Sonia Gandhi a ‘vish kanya’ (venomous girl) and an agent of China and Pakistan during a speech in Koppal.

“The entire world has accepted PM Modi. America welcomes PM with a red carpet and he’s attained the status of a global leader. The Congress compare him to a cobra and says he’s poisonous. Your party and on whose orders you dance is Sonia Gandhi a Vish Kanye? She is an agent for China and Pakistan," he was quoted as saying.

The MLA's comment came a day after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge landed himself in a controversy as he called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “poisonous snake”.
