The 17th Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to begin on April 11 and will be held in seven phases.
An individual holding India's citizenship, not serving a jail term and above the age of 18, is eligible to vote. However, in the 1951-1952 elections, the eligible voting age was 21.
After amending Article 326 of the Constitution, in 1988, the eligible voting was changed to 18.
Nearly 39.6 lakh electronic voting machines and 17.4 lakh paper trail or voter-verifiable paper trail (VVPAT) machines will be used in these polling stations.
